Michael K.Owino
Michael Owino is a Danish-Tanzanian multidisciplinary artist based in Copenhagen, working across painting, sculpture, and mixed media. His practice explores human connection, love, and the bonds of family. Through sculpture, he highlights intimate themes rarely addressed in contemporary art, such as expectant parenthood or the joy of becoming grandparents. Each work is created as a visual narrative that speaks without words, aiming to challenge perception while celebrating life. Owino’s creativity began in childhood, shaping collages and clay figures at six. While later pursuing music and literature – releasing five novels and founding a record label with hundreds of albums – visual art has become his primary language. A turning point came in 2022 when the cover of his novel Stalked was exhibited worldwide. This milestone brought invitations from galleries and confirmed his standing as a visual artist with growing international reach. Exhibitions have since taken Owino’s work across Europe, the U.S., and Asia. In 2025, he presented simultaneously at three venues during Art Fair New York and also exhibited at Art Mida in Milan. His paintings are currently on display at the prestigious Rossocinabro Gallery in Rome through October, and he is preparing for his upcoming participation at the 3F Art Fair in Paris. His art has been profiled in major international magazines, including Contemporary Art Collectors and leading publications in Europe and Japan. By bridging classical traditions with contemporary expression, Owino creates artworks that resonate globally and capture universal human stories. Photo Credit: Maria Rand
