Xue Yuan’s artist statement: My artwork pursues creative imagination and close contact with reality, blending concreteness with abstractness, containing multicultural elements, holding humanistic connotation and aesthetic taste, offering the space for contemplation, recollection and imagination. ”Laughter in the dream” is one of my representative artworks. It is rich in multicultural elements. The person in shore, Zhuangzi with the wings of a butterfly and the infant are all in their dreams. Whose dream do the scene of this painting belong to? What stories are behind the smiling faces? It is meaningful and thought-provoking.
