Nancy Staub Laughlin

I have created a new dynamic concept of the “assemblage” working with pastel on paper and photography. I begin with a series of photographs, capturing the essence of my subject matter. These photographs are then carefully mounted and used as a base for the pastel. I combine the elements: ie. photographs of the phenomenas of nature in seasons and detailed photographs of glowing and paralleling moments that incorporate change and transition. These compelling compositions are the culmination of many carefully executed steps that define my unique creative process that creates my dazzling world of color, light, dimension and beauty. Ms. Laughlin is drawn to an external world of form, color and texture that beckons to her highly individual and discerning eye. She thus creates for us a fresh and enchanting world of form and chroma that seem to lurk just beyond the normal eye’s ability to grasp the actual scene.
